About the role
We are seeking a passionate and adaptable Mental Health Clinician to join a rural community mental health service, based in Central Queensland. This is a dynamic generalist role where you’ll support a diverse and complex caseload while working as part of a supportive multidisciplinary team.
You will play a key role in delivering high-quality mental health care across a broad range of presentations, with the opportunity to make a real impact in a rural setting where your skills are highly valued.
Key responsibilities
- Provide assessment, intervention, and ongoing management for a varied caseload
- Support adult mental health presentations across community settings
- Work with older persons mental health consumers
- Manage substance use-related presentations
- Respond to occasional child and youth presentations
- Support occasional ED presentations where required
- Deliver risk assessments, safety planning, and therapeutic interventions
- Collaborate effectively within a multidisciplinary rural team
- Adapt quickly to changing service needs in a locum environment
Skills and experience
- Minimum 3+ years’ experience in mental health roles
- Qualification as a Social Worker (eligible for AASW registration) or Psychologist (AHPRA registered)
- Strong generalist mental health capability across diverse settings
- Ability to work independently in a rural and autonomous environment
- Proven ability to integrate quickly into new teams and service settings
- Flexible, adaptable approach with a “hit the ground running” mindset
- Strong communication and collaboration skills within multidisciplinary teams
- Queensland Health experience highly desirable
