Mental Health Clinician

About the role

We are seeking a passionate and adaptable Mental Health Clinician to join a rural community mental health service, based in Central Queensland. This is a dynamic generalist role where you’ll support a diverse and complex caseload while working as part of a supportive multidisciplinary team.

You will play a key role in delivering high-quality mental health care across a broad range of presentations, with the opportunity to make a real impact in a rural setting where your skills are highly valued.

Key responsibilities

• Provide assessment, intervention, and ongoing management for a varied caseload
• Support adult mental health presentations across community settings
• Work with older persons mental health consumers
• Manage substance use-related presentations
• Respond to occasional child and youth presentations
• Support occasional ED presentations where required
• Deliver risk assessments, safety planning, and therapeutic interventions
• Collaborate effectively within a multidisciplinary rural team
• Adapt quickly to changing service needs in a locum environment

Skills and experience

• Minimum 3+ years’ experience in mental health roles
• Qualification as a Social Worker (eligible for AASW registration) or Psychologist (AHPRA registered)
• Strong generalist mental health capability across diverse settings
• Ability to work independently in a rural and autonomous environment
• Proven ability to integrate quickly into new teams and service settings
• Flexible, adaptable approach with a “hit the ground running” mindset
• Strong communication and collaboration skills within multidisciplinary teams
• Queensland Health experience highly desirable
